Warm Winter Wishes

Ciao Cuties! Alright, I will admit it; I procrastinate a lot. You know those comic books that I bought over the summer? I've read only a few. I still have Ch. 2 to write of "For a While" & Ch.3 of "The Name Fits (Oh, I Get It!) Not to mention that in that time, I still have to type Ch. 2 of T.N.F. (O.I.G.T.) & write "Silence, Adventures, & Ham Sandwiches". Now that that's over, I want to focus on the coming week. If you follow (& maybe are friends with me) on Facebook, [Type in Batalina; You'll find me.], you'd know that I have been doing my own jacked-up version of "The 12 Days of Christmas" On Friday, that will be up on the Spectrum. Maybe, (if high school isn't such a big to-do & the band doesn't need me), I can find time to write a vignette based on the Zarroverse's Tony Stark's view of the holiday season. That, & decorating the second Christmas tree. But, I digress. Oh! One other thing! My review of "The Batman vs. Dracula" movie is coming to a post near you. Look alive Bats!

Finally!

Ciao Cuties.... It's finally done! I have finished the first chapter of one of my fan fiction stories. Hey, this is the "Comic Spectrum', isn't it? Well, just so you know, it is a slash between Roy Harper & Dick Grayson. Fangirls rejoice! For right now, anyway. The way it is going, there is a strong chance it will stay an angst story. Well, here we go!

Chapter One: Heartbreak is a Cruel Mistress

“Alright. No, it’s fine. Really. Cool. Well, I’ll catch you later Gillhead. Harper out.”

Dazed, shocked, confused & angry, Roy Harper hung the phone back on the wall & sat down at the kitchen table in Outsiders HQ. Without anything else to do, he silently sobbed & convulsed.

Never before has he felt so betrayed, furious, or lost. Normally, he was a strong force in the Outsiders. However, at that moment, that wasn’t the case. Doctor Light could beat him down. He was heartbroken.

His friend, Garth (AKA Tempest), had called him, giving him updates on his soon - to - be ex- girlfriend Donna Troy (AKA the former Wonder Girl, or Wonder Whore as he now called her).

Apparently, when the hospital admitted her for a broken leg & violent stomach pains, she was given a pregnancy test along with others. She was 6 weeks along, unfortunately for Roy.

When confronted with the news, she admitted that she has been involved in an affair with Maxwell Lord that started 3 months ago & that Max wanted to take it one step further.

She reasoned that since he had left Star City, she was lonely & needed someone. After that, she refused to say anymore to Garth or his other friend or his other friend Wally West (AKA Flash), & showed them out.

Roy Harper. Adventurer. CBI agent. Superhero. Saver of intergalactic worlds. Single father. Boyfriend taken for a ride.

How could he be so stupid? This was not the first time this happened. The first time Donna cheated on him was with the guys’ friend Kyle Rayner. However, Kyle & Donna weren’t in their best frame of mind at the time, & were forgiven.

The next time was with on of Dick’s good friends, Calvin Townsend. Details were fuzzy though. All he knew was that Dick was on the phone arguing with Calvin the day after the scandal was uncovered.

“Look at me now”, he thought. “I should’ve left the first time, but I needed someone. And Lian did too.”

Roy began to convulse & sob more at the thought of his 8 year old daughter, Lian. She regarded her as her second mother, even going far enough to call her Auntie Donna. He shuddered at the fact that he would have to tell her what happened. Lian would be crushed when she knew that “Auntie Donna” was leaving the family for a crime lord that just got resurrected about 5 months ago.

It wasn’t the fact that Donna was pregnant; that he could deal with. Was it the fact that she cheated again? Donna was just the cheating type. No, what really made him upset was that the baby’s father wasn’t him; it was Max. It had to be Max. The one who shot Ted Kord point blank in the head & walked away. Angry tears burned as they streamed down his flushed face. Not Owen. Not Lex. Not Wally. Not Bruce. Hell, not even Gar, Joey, or Kyle, as much as she hung around them. The baby was going to have a cold – blooded killer as a father. He silently hoped that Diana would snap his neck again before something else goes down. Thoroughly deepened in his brooding state, he failed to notice his personal sage walking into the kitchen, searching for a snack...

What to Expect

Ciao Cuties. Look, I know I said that I would be back to posting soon. Well, I never realized how hard it would be. I mean, marching band, has been demanding. Sure we have won , but you don't realize how much work goes in. I spend on average 17 hours a week practicing. Enough about the bad news; Here's something to look forward to. I picked up "Strange Adventures" & am lookinh forward to strating the review. I finished "The Dark Knight Strikes Again" & want to let you know what I thought. I promise thre will be some fan art, discussion, & more to come. In fact, in about 6 hours, there might be a DC News post. Who knows? Until next time Bats; Look alive!

I'm Back!

Ciao Bats. It's been an eventful summer. I had marching band practice, a trip to DC, band camp & the start of high school. To tell you the true, I kind of put comics on the back burner. I haven't read much of anything lately. Good news though! I recently came away with about 200 new comic books including some first issues & will be reading & reviewing them sooner than you think. I will also have some new fan art plus a the first chapters of my new fan fiction stories. The first comic to review? I'm almost done reading Crisis on Infinite Earths & really want to share my thoughts. Until next time Cuties; Look alive!

Ciao Cuties! You know, I love comics. I enjoyed Blackest Night, but I was left with all sorts of questions. A lot of parts didn't make too much sense to me. Back On Track!

Ciao Cuties! I'm back from my mini-hiatus. I am happy to report that my mother has recovered from her surgery & is better than ever. Now, let's get down to business! It;s Sunday, so i am starting with my Weekly Character Spotlight. On saturdays, I post one or two quotes from this person. This here is Nekron, one of the leaders of the Black Lantern Corps & the Blackest Night. I just find him fascinating. Plus, I loved the Blackest Night. This week, there will be quotes & questions for discussion related to the Blackest Night. Let's get to it!

Quick Change of Plans

Ciao Cuties! There is going to be a quick change of plans. I know I said I would start posting as soon as I got out of the rough process of getting this blog up & running. However, my mother just had surgery & I need to help take care of her & would like to keep the schedule that was talked about yesterday. I will be back on Sunday to officially get going. How Stuff Works

Ciao Cuties! I'm still working out some rough stuff on this blog, but I'm pretty much have how things are going to work. I will post seven days a week, unless something urgent comes up (i.e. Late marching band practice/sectional, family emergency, family outing,etc.) On Sunday, I will post a picture of my spotlight character for the week, (There will be more on it later.), & reveal who or what I will be posting quotes from (Ex. Changeling, Cobalt Blue etc.) Remember, this is just a rough idea of how things will go. Monday through Friday, I will post one or two quotes from one or two people. Depends on how I feel that day. Another thing I will do is post updates in the DCU or Marvel Universe (On a good day...) In addition, I will hold open discussion on this blog & people are welcome to share their thoughts. I pose a question & ask for commentary. On Saturday, I will post a list of this week's contenders. In between, I will try to do a DC graphic novel when I get the time (Money, or resources). Alright, here we go!
